All together for the holidays!

I come from a “somewhat” large family! I say somewhat because I have six and *that’s* large!!! I am the oldest of 4. You can scroll down to see all of my family! Out of all my siblings, so far I’m the only one married with kids! (Sometimes I envy my sisters single life!!!)

Just after Christmas (yes Christmas, I’m getting caught up!) , I had the chance to see the future for my family! Ms. Hendrickson contacted me to say that all of 4 children as well as her 8 grand-kids were going to be in town for the holiday. Since this was such a momentous occasion, I knew I had to document this family! It was so much fun!!! Despite being a little chilly, the kids did great and the parents enjoyed themselves as well!

We headed over to Roanoke College campus for a different setting. The kids did great! You would never know they were being bribed with M&M’s!!!

Fun grown-up picture!

We played on the campus for a little while and then tried for a picture of Grandma with all her kiddos! I am convinced they decided to wage a war against us! They were cold and tired and hungry and were not going to sit for anything, not even M&M’s this time!!!! We are missing one because there was a mishap and we did have a case of the bloody lip! This image makes me laugh because if all the chaos surrounding it!

Since kids were just done we decided to head back to Grandma’s for snacks and book reading!

After a good book, it was time for a good movie. “Peter Pan” to be exact! Obviously it was enthralling! Check out the slideshow for the cool popcorn containers as well as many other images from the session!

Virginia Women’s Show

*** I apparently wrote this post sometime last week and then forgot to put it up! Sometimes I don’t know where my brain is!***

This past weekend I was excited to participate in the Virginia Women’s Show! It meant a lot of preparation in a very short amount of time, but with the help of my wonderful friend Lisa, we pulled it off. In the rush and chaos, I completely forgot the camera!!! I am kicking myself! I wanted to share my booth but also wanted to document the process so I would know what to change or keep the same the next time! Oh well!

It was a great day with lots of women and lots of things that interest women! With around 4,000 women over the course of the day, we were busy! Lisa and I looked at our watches about 2:30 and were amazed that the day had just flown by!

I am excited to say that I have a winner for the free album contest! I mixed up the bowl good and then had my husband draw the name! I can’t announce it yet as I must get in touch with them first, but when I do, I’ll make another post! I can’t wait to do the session and then design the album! I love doing albums! I need to get some pictures of the albums I have done up here for all to see! They are really amazing and a very different way to display your pictures!

Christmas was crazy but good as I’m sure it was for many of you. I hope everyone had the chance to spend time with family and friends! Shelley invited me to photograph her extended family when they gathered for their Christmas celebration! What fun chaos it was! Lots of kids and food and wrapping paper and love! My family has not had any good pictures in ages! Like more than 10 years! Granted, when I got married and moved away, all my siblings quickly followed. That just made it harder than ever! This year, however, everyone came in for the holidays and we decided to remedy the situation! We loaded up, headed down to the nearby elementary school and had some fun! It was a little chilly but we managed to get some great shots!

Jeryl did a really good job, both with the picture and putting up with me barking orders while trying to look like I was having a good time!

Happy New Year!

I’m feeling a little pressure! This is the first post of the new year! What shall I say?! It is said that whatever you do on the first day of the new year will be what you do the rest of the year. So today I cleaned (no surprise there as I do this everyday!), moved furniture, and spent time with family! Wonder what the moving furniture part means?! We did get to enjoy a dinner out with the grandparents and then popped over to see Uncle Curtis, Aunt Cory and baby Cate. I hope this means we will be spending lots of time with all our family this year! Here a some images I took at Cate’s first session just after Thanksgiving. Isn’t she precious!

Curtis and Cory did a wonderful job decorating her room. Of course it’s pink!

Even when she’s crying she’s adorable! Don’t worry, Mommy was right there!

I absolutely love this image! Look how small her head is in Curt’s hands!

This was Curt and Cory Christmas present and the reason I didn’t post the images until just now! A 10×20 storyboard that will look beautiful in Cate’s room and will be a wonderful treasure for Mom and Dad! I can’t wait to do another session in about a month. She has changed so much already!

On Sunday I had the great pleasure of spending the afternoon with Al and Brenda and their 4 wonderful children! It was a little chilly and started to drizzle halfway through our session but we managed to get some great family shots!

Tickles are always fun!

Brenda took the time to send me an email letting me know a little bit about each one of the kids and what they liked to do! I loved being able to capture their spirit!

Honestly, I have been blessed with some of the best looking and most amazing families! I am honored to have the opportunity to photograph so many fun and loving people! It’s really a joy! The Goldsmith family is no exception! They are an outdoor, athletic kind of family so we tried to incorporate as much of that as we could! I started off with some fun stuff! See if you can picture what they look like from this image!

Soccer is a favorite sport for these kids. I don’t know who likes it more, Gretchen or Grant!

Sean and Tammy own a significant portion of land beside their house that includes a view that leaves you feeling on top of the world. They take the kids camping up here because it feels like they are far removed from reality and yet they are in their back yard! The clouds were incredible and the view amazing, don’t you think!

Thank you Sean, Tammy, Gretchen and Grant for allowing me to spend the afternoon with your family! I thoroughly enjoyed myself and I will see you again soon!

I’m soooooo excited!!!!

I LOVE Christmas music!!! Really LOVE it! I have been collecting it for years. I have somewhere around 48 hours of continuous music with no repeats! I know, it’s a little crazy, but I just love putting it on in the morning and leaving it playing all day! It just feels good! So, every year, Jeryl and I have a hard time figuring out how to play all the music. At first we just popped the Cd’s in the player one at a time. That got old after a while, so Jeryl streamed them onto the computer. Sounds good, right! Use the jukebox software to scramble the music, no more changing Cd’s! The only problem with this was the computer was downstairs and I mostly want to hear it upstairs. Our next step was to put the software and all the music on my little laptop upstairs and hook it up to speakers. Sounded great in theory, however, my “little” laptop was “little” on memory and couldn’t handle all the music and the software and play the music at the same time! The next year, Jeryl decides to put a tower next to the couch, hook it up to the laptop and use the screen to control it. Then we discovered that the tower made so much noise that you could hardly hear the music! Last year we didn’t have any music We just couldn’t figure it out. I was very sad! So the other day a package arrived via FedEx. I had to sign for it, which was unusual but, tis the season, so I didn’t think anything about it. When Jeryl came home he opened the package and presented me with this

YAY!!!!! Now all we have to do is load some music on it, hit shuffle, plug it in to the speakers and we shall have music all day long!!!! I know we are a little behind the times, but I am still excited about my new toy! My husband is the best! My only problem is that I think I have too much music! I am going to have to only pick my favorites! We will see how that goes!
